The Misadventures in the Morning Calm: Day 7

I... Am... FREAKING LAZY TO EDIT ALL THE FREAKING PHOTOS...

We're officially leaving Kimchee today (╥﹏╥) Gonna miss this place and the cute 오빠 who works here... We could still leave our baggage in the little storeroom there, so we'll be back for the last time to pick up the rest of our bulky luggage.

Started the day with cold noodles at a shop in Daehyeon-dong. Yes, I know what you're thinking, it's freaking winter and we're eating a freaking bowl of freaking cold noodles with freaking ice flakes in it... Well you know what they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do... Or in the case, as the Koreans do...

냉면, which is literally translated into cold noodles. Noodles were nice and chewy, and the pear was so sweet!!! o(>▽<)o

We were served a nice teapot of broth on the side.
They say when visiting Korea, one thing which must not be missed is the local beef 한우, so we ordered that as well. Just plain boiled thin sliced beef, no seasoning, no spices. Sounds pretty bland, but you can taste the beefy (insert youdon'tsay.jpg here), meaty sort of taste without anything interfering with it, and the marbling really gives it a nice texture. (*^^*)

I prefer my meat a tad bit chunkier though...  (@・・@)

Off to the parks near Hangang, or Han River?

A little old lady saw me playing around with my camera and came up to me saying there's a bunny yonder.

 갸ㅑㅑㅑㅑ!!! 토끼!!!

Right across the road there was another park which overlooks Hangang.

At sundown, we headed to Itaewon.

First stop, Passion 5, A very upscale sort of patisserie. The array of cakes and pastries was enormous! ~(˘▾˘)~

We finally settled with strawberry earl grey cake and strawberry stack.

The cake didn't taste enough of earl grey, but the texture was good enough to have itself redeemed. So light and fluffy! o(╥ω╥)o

EL preferred the strawberry stack, which was sweet and crispy but, for me, a tad bit difficult to eat kekeke.

9/10, extras for the ambience!

Hmm... *shoulder tap*

We debated on going for dinner or another cafe. Finally decided on Bada restaurant, which is very popular for its 부대찌게-Army base stew. The stew comprises of spam, sausages, some vegetables, cheese in a spicy thick broth, a very nice meal to have in winter. One serving is 19k won and it is enough for 2-3 people.

Once you go in, you can't help noticing all the autographs on the wall. Even the YG artists come here!

After dinner, off to Cheongnyangi Station to catch a train. First class seats at 23.2k won per person to watch the sunrise!

Goodnight! See you in Gyeonggido!

The MIsadventures in the Morning Calm: Day 6

Day 6:

We have given up trying to communicate with the locals using Korean and resorted to speaking English instead... I can't listen well while EL can't speak well. So every time we want to buy something or ask for directions, I ask, local answers, EL translates, I answer, and it goes on... (=.=)

Clothes are stinky as crap, so we dumped them all in a bag and I took them down to the laundry. The guy at the counter looks at our load and says: "Laundry's pretty expensive, you sure you don't wanna wait a bit longer?" which is quite true because it's 2k won a cycle each for the washing machine and the dryer. But what other choice do you have when you've been wearing the same clothes for 5 days and that's one of the two sets of clothes you brought for this trip...

Anyway the cute staff helped operate the machine kekeke (♥ω♥ ) And the joy of nuzzling the nice warm clean laundry fresh out from the dryer... (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

It was quite late when our laundry was done, so we chose a nearby place for lunch. It took us really long to find it, and it's such a stark difference from the grid-like layout of Melbourne CBD.

Welcome to Melbourne CBD, we make your life easy.

Welcome to Hongdae, cuz' screw you that's why. (Statement intended only for joke purposes.)

We finally found the place after walking in circles several times even by referring to the maps, 405 Kitchen.

Interiors were a quaint mix of industrial and rustic design.

French toast @ 13k won: It came with salad, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs.

The scrambled eggs were sooo fluffy and the herbs inside gave an extra kick. The French toast tasted queerly of the eggs. Either they were fried in the same pan or they used the same egg mixture...

Verdict: 8/10. Pretty good price for a fairly generous serve. And food was not bad!

Went exploring in Hongdae.

Trip down to the Mural District.
Oh dear kinsfolk pray why do you scrawl the nose of a swine upon such a winsome face?

There was a cat which was following us around because he thought we had food. Once he realized otherwise...
For God's sakes human! I want food! Not your stinky little camera... ( =①Д①=)

Anyway...
Anyone here watches Love Rain? The one with YoonA in it. Here's the cafe! o(*゚▽゚*)o
And this, isn't a bookshop or archive like the sign suggests. It is a ramyun shop. O.o

大叔别抽烟,伤身啊!(((╹д╹;)))
We walked out into the shopping district as it got dark.

At sundown, dinner at 홍익 생고기.

삼겹살, literally translates into three-layered meat. A cut of the pork where the fat alternates between layers of lean meat. Sometimes used to poke fun at people. No kids, don't try this if you can't run fast enough...

껍데기, pig's skin. A certain memory of Hyun Bin in Secret Garden grimacing after trying this conjures. Was expecting it to be crispy though... (¬_¬)

After dinner, went shopping in Innisfree then off to Cafe aA.

This place screams chic modern artsy. Well it is a design museum after all.

Chocolate cake, affogato and rooibos tea.

Officialy in love with rooibos tea... That fruity floral fragrance... (♥ω♥)

The chocolate cake was pretty dense but has a chocolate truffle like consistency. Rich and melts in the mouth! But 5.5k won for a small slice! o(╥Д╥)o

All those calories, and we're now making it worse by going back to sleep... Good thing we're going to burn off some of it when walking home in the subzero temperatures. (自欺欺人)
